Dolcetto from a legend of La Morra, made with the same uncompromising patience Lorenzo Accomasso applied to his Barolos. Lorenzo, who died in August 2025 at 91, was among Piemonte's last true hermit-traditionalists, working three precious hectares alongside his sister Elena with concrete fermenters, decades-old Slavonian botti, and minimal intervention. His Dolcetto receives the kind of attention most producers reserve for their top cuvees, with extended aging in large neutral oak that yields a wine of unusual depth and savory complexity for the grape. The 2017 was a warm, challenging vintage in the Langhe; eight years on, this small-production bottling is fully mature and drinking with real character, far from the simple quaffer most Dolcettos aspire to be.

Perfect Pairings

A natural with salumi boards, mushroom risotto, grilled sausage and polenta, roasted poultry, simple taglierini al ragu, or a wedge of younger Toma. A very light chill is optional.

Tasting Profile

Black cherry, blackberry, violet, dried herb, and a savory earth note. Medium-bodied with soft tannins and the warm, slightly resolved fruit of a mature Dolcetto.
