What is this wine?
Jérôme Bretaudeau of Domaine de Bellevue is one of the Loire Valley’s most admired new-generation vignerons, known for farming organically and working with precision and creativity. His Clos des Perrières bottling is 100% Melon de Bourgogne from a single vineyard on granite soils in Muscadet Sèvre-et-Maine. The wine is fermented with native yeasts and aged on the lees, highlighting depth, texture, and terroir expression.

Why get this wine?
This is Muscadet raised to another level—granite-driven, complex, and ageworthy. Bretaudeau has gained a cult following for proving how profound Melon de Bourgogne can be, and Clos des Perrières is a benchmark example. It offers the same minerality and elegance you’d expect from fine Chablis, but at a fraction of the price.

What does this wine taste like?
Taut and mineral, with citrus, green apple, and pear layered over white flowers, herbs, and a saline, stony backbone. Lees aging adds texture and length without diminishing freshness.

When should you drink this wine?
Delicious now for its tension and purity, but it will age gracefully for 8–10 years, developing nutty and honeyed notes. Perfect with oysters, scallops, sushi, or goat cheese.
