Drouhin-Laroze’s 2022 Clos Prieur is a Premier Cru Gevrey-Chambertin adjacent to Mazis-Chambertin Grand Cru. The vineyard’s clay-limestone soils yield firm, ageworthy Pinot Noir with depth and structure. The domaine has been family-run since 1850 and now practices sustainable viticulture.

Fermented with native yeasts and aged in French oak, the wine balances power and finesse. Clos Prieur sits among the most serious 1er Crus in the Drouhin-Laroze portfolio, offering a classic Gevrey profile.

Professional Reviews

Burghound

BH 92
"A mentholated top note is present on the restrained, fresh and cool aromas of red and black cherry laced with enough earth character to mention. The equally refined but punchier medium weight flavors exude a discreet minerality that adds a sense of lift to the more structured, powerful and youthfully austere finish. There’s slightly more depth here but it’s also sufficiently strict that this will certainly need at least some patience."

Antonio Galloni

AG 91
"The 2022 Gevrey-Chambertin Clos Prieur 1er Cru, blended with 30% whole bunches, has a slightly backward bouquet with scents of potpourri infusing the red fruit, perhaps needing a little more mineralité to come through. The palate is medium-bodied with chewy tannins on the entry, hints of licorice developing towards the finish that will hopefully develop a little more nervosité during the remaining élevage." -Neal Martin

Robert Parker

RP 92
"The 2022 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Clos Prieur exhibits aromas of raspberries, orange zest and spices, framed by toasty new oak, followed by a medium to full-bodied, supple and lively palate that's charming and nicely balanced." -William Kelley
