John Grochau’s wines have always been about purity and place, and Commuter Cuvée is his way of making Willamette Valley Pinot accessible without sacrificing character. More about Grochau Cellars

John Grochau came to wine by an unusual road: a Portland native, he raced bicycles in France and spent years on the floor at Portland's Higgins restaurant before learning winemaking at Erath and Brick House. He started Grochau Cellars in 2002 and went full time in 2008, buying all of his fruit from Willamette Valley growers and making the wines near Amity. Pinot Noir is the focus, from the everyday Commuter Cuvée up, alongside Gamay and other French-inspired bottlings. Elegant, balanced and utterly food-friendly.
