Perched on the steepest, most dramatic slope of the Cristom estate, Jessie Vineyard delivers the most muscular and brooding expression of Pinot Noir in the lineup. Planted in 1994 across a mosaic of volcanic soil exposures, it’s named for founder Paul Gerrie’s mother and stands as a cornerstone of Cristom’s identity.

The 2022 vintage is rich and intense yet impeccably balanced. Aromatics of black cherry, dark raspberry, violets, and baking spice rise from the glass, underpinned by savory herbs and a distinct mineral edge. The palate is firm and deeply layered—generous fruit wrapped in fine-grained tannins, energized by the whole-cluster lift that’s signature to the house style. It’s a wine that carries its weight with grace.

Fermented with native yeasts and aged in French oak (about 50% new), Jessie 2022 is built to age—decant now for a bold, expressive glass or cellar confidently for 10–20 years. Pair with game, grilled mushrooms, or richer dishes that match its scale. This is Cristom at full volume—expressive, structured, and volcanic to the core.

Founder and owner Paul Gerrie has used his skills as an engineer and avid researcher to pursue his passion for wine. On his travels to France, he was introduced to and embraced the traditional growing practices of Burgundy which he now instills in his own wines. Use of whole cluster and native yeast fermentation allows for the fruit and land to truly express themselves and Cristom has also farmed sustainably since 1992.

"This section of the Cristom estate was hit pretty hard with voles and they obliterated a big block of vines looking for water. The aromatics of fresh berries and fresh mint show the steep site's signature, taking twice the work of the rest of the single vineyards at Cristom. A balance of grace and power, this bottling was Steven Spurrier's favourite. The elegance overcomes the power of the site, with earth and forest floor aromas finishing the show. The palate is a marriage of ripeness with the savoury character and superb tannins that the vintage has given winemaker Daniel Estrin to work with. This is an ageable example of Oregon Pinot Noir with ripe berries, fresh bing cherry flesh and delicious notes of dried anise."
