Professional Reviews

Burghound

BH 91
"From 11 different parcels in 7 lieux-dits scattered about Puligny with an overall average vine age of approximately 40+ years. A slightly more elegant nose features bright and fresh aromas of just sliced citrus, acacia and poached pear. The delicious and energetic, if not especially dense, middle weight flavors possess a finer mouthfeel before terminating in a tension-filled, youthfully austere and sneaky long finish. This could use better depth so a few years of keeping are suggested." -Allen Meadows

Antonio Galloni

"The 2023 Puligny-Montrachet Village comes from several lieux-dits and was taken from vat as the final blend. It has a perfumed, slightly minty bouquet. The palate is balanced with slightly lower acidity than the previous vintage. It's quite light with a touch of sour lemon on the finish. Fine, but it needs to gain a bit more substance." -Neal Martin

Robert Parker

RP 90
"The 2023 Puligny-Montrachet Village is fleshy and demonstrative, bursting with aromas of sweet orchard fruit, bread dough and toasted nuts. Medium to full-bodied, ample and fleshy, it's a giving, open-knit wine." -William Kelley

Jancis Robinson

"Subtle, spicy oak on the nose. Intense, really concentrated, the acidity just balanced by the flavour and rounded texture of the oak. Unusually intense in this vintage. Powerful, taut, long. A coiled spring that needs time." -Julia Harding M

What importer Rosenthal Wine Merchant has to say about this wine...

Jacques’ Puligny-Montrachet comes from eleven small parcels in seven different sites scattered throughout the appellation, with vines averaging forty years of age. Jacques operates on a six-year barrel rotation for his villages-level wines, and the modest 15% new oak allows the limestone essence typical in Carillon to shine through. The palate is lean and quite long, showing youthful verve and a stern minerality that will repay a few years of cellaring.
