"Light orange. Sharply focused red berry and tangerine scents are complicated by suggestions of allspice and cinnamon, with a hint of smokiness in the background. Sappy and mineral on the palate, offering fresh strawberry and blood orange flavors lifted by juicy acidity. Packs a serious punch but carries no excess weight and finishes stony and very long, with echoing red berry character. 92 pts" -- Josh Raynolds, Vinous

Known as the oldest established champagne house, Ruinart has been producing wine since 1729 to please royalty in the Court of Versailles. And to this day, the wines are stunning, texturally decadent, yet focused and complex.

With Chef de Caves Frederic Panaiotis at the helm since 2007, one could say that the champagnes are better than ever. Fred's sharp acumen, passion for wine, and inimitable demeanor make him one of the most significant figures in Champagne today. While he modestly considers himself a guardian of the house style for other generations to follow, we think the wines are distinctively showing more precision and clarity since his tenure.

WS 94
"This offers all the trim sleekness of a well-built racing sailboat, while the flavors unfurl on the palate like a full spinnaker sail. Macerated raspberry and poached apricot fruit is underscored by smoke and toast notes, and pleasing hints of crystallized honey, tangerine zest and dried thyme echo on the mouthwatering finish. Drink now through 2030"

Champagne

Champagne boasts some of the world’s greatest luxury brands with Krug, Cristal and, of course, Dom Perignon. But it’s also home to hundreds of small dynamic producers—farmers who grow their own grapes (often organically) and make (often with natural methods) tiny amounts of pure and absolutely delicious wine that reflect the individual personalities of their villages and terroirs. Toast with these wines, for sure. But also treat them like the great wines they are: taste, drink, explore!
