Legendary single-vineyard Sancerre from the steep Kimmeridgian slopes of Monts Damnés—considered Sancerre's greatest site. Florence Thomas and Jean-Paul Labaille took over her father Claude's vines in 1994. Jean-Paul, who quit his civil service job to become a full-time vigneron, selects the best lots for this cuvée, first bottled in 1997 as a tribute to importer Joe Dressner's dog Buster. Native yeast fermentation, aged 8-9 months in 600-liter foudres, bottled unfiltered and unfined. Extremely limited production.

More about Thomas-Labaille

Jean-Paul Labaille quit his job as a civil servant to take over his father-in-law's vineyard in Chavignol, and that decision altered everything. Now he's custodian of prime old vines planted on Kimmeridgian soils, some on the steep slopes of Les Monts Damnées. Fermented native, aged on lees, bottled unfiltered, the wines emerge rich, round, layered, with a subtle nose and a finish that doesn't quit. This is what happens when ambition meets limestone and age.

Flatiron's Take

From the Importer

What Bowler Wine has to say about this wine:

100% Sauvignon Blanc. This cuvée was first bottled in 1997 in homage to Joe Dressner's and Denyse Louis' dog Buster and is bottled annually (unlike other Buster cuvées, which are otherwise only a one-time, one-shot special bottling from a given Dressner producer). "Cuvée Buster" is a a selection of the best Monts Damnés lots, aged for 8-9 months in two 600-liter foudres and bottled unfiltered. Extremely limited.

Tasting Notes & Food Pairings
