More about Schloss Gobelsburg

Schloss Gobelsburg, in Langenlois in Austria's Kamptal, has records of winemaking going back to 1171 and is considered the oldest winery in the Danube region. The Cistercian monks of Zwettl Abbey have owned it since 1740, and since 1996 Michael and Eva Moosbrugger have run the winery on monastic principles. Rieslings from the terraced Heiligenstein are mineral, stone-fruited and utterly classical, made with natural yeasts and a sparing hand with oak. This is tradition with real depth.
