An everyday orange wine that actually tastes like an orange wine should — bright, expressive, food-friendly, and totally unapologetic. Sohu comes from Croatia and is made largely from Graševina, the country's most widely planted white grape (the same variety known across Central Europe as Welschriesling), with Pinot Blanc in the blend. Here it's given extended skin contact in the traditional style: the juice ferments with its skins, picking up structure, color, and a layer of grippy savor that pushes the wine far past what you'd expect from a Tuesday-night bottle. Look for dried apricot, orange peel, chamomile, a flash of bruised apple, and that signature tea-like tannic grip on the finish. A great gateway bottle if you've been curious about skin-contact wines — and a smart weeknight pour if you already love them.
