What is this wine?

This is the rosé from Tenuta delle Terre Nere, one of the benchmark estates on Mount Etna in Sicily. Made primarily from Nerello Mascalese, grown on volcanic soils at high altitude, the wine is crafted in a dry, mineral-driven style that reflects both grape and terroir. Terre Nere, led by Marco de Grazia, is celebrated for its transparent, site-specific reds and equally precise rosato.

Why get this wine?

Etna Rosato has become one of Italy’s most exciting categories, often compared to top Provençal rosé but with a distinctive volcanic edge. Terre Nere is a leading producer, and this bottling offers excellent value for such pedigree. It’s a perfect summer wine but with enough complexity for year-round drinking.

What does this wine taste like?

Crisp and dry, with notes of strawberry, blood orange, and pomegranate. A subtle smoky, volcanic minerality runs through the palate, balanced by lively acidity and a savory finish.

When should you drink this wine?

Best enjoyed now through 2026 for freshness. Ideal with seafood, grilled vegetables, or Mediterranean salads. Serve well-chilled.

Professional Reviews

Antonio Galloni

AG 91
"Dusty and floral, the 2024 Etna Rosato lifts up with a delicate mix of peach, ripe melon and minty herbs. It's juicy in character with crisp white cherry-berry tones that resonate. The 2024 tapers off with a gentle tension as hints of wild strawberry slowly fade." -Eric Guido
