Alvina Pernot’s 2023 Clos de la Garenne is a Puligny-Montrachet Premier Cru known for elegance and early approachability. The vineyard, enclosed by stone walls, lies on limestone and clay soils that balance freshness with texture. Farming is low-intervention and all fruit is hand-harvested.

Fermentation with native yeasts and aging in French oak—mostly used—highlight purity over opulence. This cuvée offers a graceful, mineral-driven expression of Puligny from a rising star in Côte de Beaune.

Professional Reviews

Antonio Galloni

AG 93
"The 2023 Puligny-Montrachet Clos de la Garenne 1er Cru, a lieu-dit shared between Pernot and Duc de Magenta (aka Louis Jadot) if you wish to compare, has a taut and fresh bouquet with impressive mineralité and tension. The palate shows exquisite delineation, discrete new oak just imparting a subtle creaminess to the texture. There is fine depth and a dash of spice toward the finish. This will give 12 to 15 years of drinking pleasure, possibly longer." -Neal Martin

D 95
"There are concentrated aromas of passion fruit and pomelo, complemented by floral notes and a hint of smoky reduction. The texture is surprisingly rich and the impressive freshness gives the wine superb balance and length. The grapes are from the Pernot family vineyards, surrounded by woods near the top of the slope; they are pressed as whole clusters and fermented with nearly all their lees to bring a bit of tension to the wine."
