Alvina Pernot’s 2023 Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Caillerets comes from a limestone-rich slope just above Montrachet, known for precision and mineral depth. The young domaine, descended from the Pernot family legacy, farms with low inputs and hand-harvests fruit for optimal ripeness.

Fermented with native yeasts and aged in French oak with a light touch of new wood, this wine shows finesse and drive. It’s a top-tier Puligny premier cru that highlights clarity and structure over richness.

Professional Reviews

"The 2023 Puligny-Montrachet Les Caillerets 1er Cru comes from an exchange in must with another grower. This doesn't quite have the vibrancy of the 2022 last year, perhaps just refusing to come out and play during my visit—a bit bashful. The palate is well balanced with fine acidity, a fresh entry and a touch of bitter lemon on the linear finish. You get the feeling that this cuvée is playing it a bit safe, unlike, say, the Clos des Folatières." -Neal Martin

"Alvina Pernot's 2023 Caillerets was even more impressive than the 2022. On the nose, there is a fairly quiet chalky minerality, but on the palate everything changes with an explosive citrus fruit and herbal note. The texture has lively acidity that keeps the wine dynamic. Despite the fairly light body, it lingers impressively on the palate, creating a lithe, sinuous feel. Although this will be undeniably attractive when bottled, it will improve with three to five years in bottle and drink over the next 15."
