Bernard-Bonin’s 2022 Meursault 1er Cru Les Charmes du Milieu is Meursault at its most elegant and expressive—rich and textural, yes, but also shot through with freshness and finesse. This bottling comes from the prized central portion of Les Charmes, a site known for producing wines that balance Meursault’s classic creamy depth with real mineral lift.

In the glass, it’s a stunner: lemon curd, white peach, toasted hazelnut, and a whisper of vanilla, wrapped around a core of cool, limestone tension. The wine is barrel-fermented and aged on the lees in mostly used oak, giving it a silky texture without overwhelming the clarity of the fruit or terroir.

Bernard-Bonin is celebrated for a low-intervention approach—organic farming, native yeast fermentation, and slow élevage in their cool Meursault cellar. The result is a wine that feels both generous and focused, with Grand Cru energy and the charm to drink beautifully now or age gracefully for 8–12 years.

Pair it with buttery seafood, roast chicken, or just pour it slowly and let the wine speak for itself.

Professional Reviews

Robert Parker

RP 94
"The 2001 Barolo Sori Ginestra emerges with a bouquet redolent of crushed flowers, tobacco, spices and mint, all of which come together beautifully. The integration of fruit and oak is more harmonious than it is in the Gris."

Wine Spectator

WS 99
"Pure crushed berries and plums, with just a hint of wood and fresh mushroom. Full-bodied and compacted, with loads of rich fruit and big, velvety tannins. Gorgeous wine. Huge concentration, yet balanced. Greatest wine ever from here and the wine of the vintage."

Wine Enthusiast

WE 93
"Full-bodied and richly textured, this wine nevertheless retains the essence of Nebbiolo in its delicately floral aromas and complex flavors. Cherries, plums and prunes all mingle on the palate, picking up nuances of vanilla and spice. Long and silky on the finish."
