Comtes Lafon’s 2016 Porusots comes from one hectare of organically farmed vines in this Premier Cru site. Severe April frost cut yields drastically, limiting production to just two barrels. Dominique Lafon’s approach favors low intervention: native yeast fermentation and extended aging in French oak, with minimal new wood.

Porusots lies mid-slope on limestone and clay, giving powerful, structured Chardonnay. Among Lafon’s Meursaults, it shows density and aging potential, balanced by precision and minerality. A rare bottling from a challenging but concentrated vintage.

Professional Reviews

Burghound

"Here the nose is restrained almost to the point of being mute and it requires extensive swirling to reveal the cool array of citrus, pear, green fruit and soft floral scents. There is good if not outstanding concentration to the punchy and powerful flavors that possess excellent size and weight if not much refinement on the impressively saline-inflected finish."

"Bright yellow-straw. Sexy aromas of peach oil, soft citrus fruits and hazelnut, plus a hint of menthol reduction. A bit stunted following the recent bottling, with its fruit flavors complicated by an herbal note and supported by sappy underlying minerality. This dry, classic Meursault boasts excellent inner-mouth tension and finishes savory and long, with its tightly coiled spring calling for patience." -Stephen Tanzer

"Lafon’s one hectare of Poruzots produced a mere two barrels this year, but the wine is very pretty, offering up a fragrant bouquet of Meyer lemon, white flowers and citrus zest. On the palate the wine is tense, vibrant and quite mineral. It's detailed and fine, emphasising elegance over amplitude."
