Georges Roumier’s 2023 Morey-Saint-Denis 1er Cru “Clos de la Bussière” is a historic monopole acquired by the domaine in 1953. The enclosed vineyard lies on rocky, iron-rich clay-limestone soils just south of the village.

Fermented with native yeasts, partially destemmed, and aged in oak with a restrained new wood regimen, it’s bottled unfined and unfiltered. Structured and savory, it marries Morey’s muscle with Roumier’s hallmark finesse.

Professional Reviews

Antonio Galloni

AG 93
"The 2023 Morey-Saint-Denis Clos de la Bussière 1er Cru has a clean and precise bouquet, with forest floor and hints of ceps infusing the dark berry fruit. It's a little introverted at first but it unfolds nicely in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins and gentle grip. It's quite saline in the mouth with a precise, almost understated finish. This is a classy Morey Saint-Denis from Roumier." -Neal Martin

Robert Parker

RP 93
"The 2023 Morey-Saint-Denis 1er Cru Clos de la Bussière offers up aromas of cherries, raspberries and plums, along with hints of baking chocolate and spices. Medium to full-bodied, lively and layered, it's rich and charming, with a rather open, gourmand profile for a wine that's sometimes among Roumier's more structured bottlings. At 13.8%, this is one of the higher alcohol wines in the range, as is often the case." -William Kelley

Burgundy has long been the world's most famous wine region. But, underneath all the prestige, this region can be hard to get to know.

While Burgundy offers many great trophies from top producers in well-known villages like Vosne Romanee and Puligny Montrachet, it also offers excellent values to anyone willing to explore beyond the famous names. Our collection– one of the largest in the U.S. – has plenty of both!

From the very basics of Burgundy's regions and wines to the specific terroirs of individual single vineyards--
