Professional Reviews

"More elegant, cooler and airier aromas include those of Granny Smith apples, mineral reduction, exotic tea and plenty of citrus elements. The succulent but intense and overtly mineral-driven middleweight flavors possess good cut on the youthfully austere and sneaky long finale. Here too more depth would be helpful but that shouldn't be an issue with a few years of bottle aging" -Allen Meadows

"The 2022 Chassagne-Montrachet Les Baudines 1er Cru, a long-term contract of grapes from vines on very white soils prone to oïdium, has a very attractive nose with chalk, white peach and citrus notes. Good vigor. The palate is very well-balanced with a crisp bead of acidity. Very elegant and harmonious in style, with a dab of reduction on the finish, suggesting it will need 3-4 years in bottle and/or a long decant. But it will be worth it." -Neal Martin

"The 2022 Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Baudines bursts with aromas of spiced pears, white flowers, hazelnuts and vanilla pod. Medium to full-bodied, satiny and racy, with a sweet core of fruit and a seamless, charming profile, it will offer a broad drinking window." -William Kelley

"This often-overlooked premier cru has delivered outstanding results in 2022, with a focused gooseberry and passionfruit aroma with hints of linden flowers and flint and an underpinning of saline minerality. The texture is lively with vibrant acidity that balances the concentrated extract and carries the wine to an impressively long finish. Savvy collectors will let this open for three to five years from the vintage before opening; it should drink well for at least 20 years."

While Burgundy offers many great trophies from top producers in well-known villages like Vosne Romanee and Puligny Montrachet, it also offers excellent values to anyone willing to explore beyond the famous names. Our collection– one of the largest in the U.S. – has plenty of both!

From the very basics of Burgundy's regions and wines to the specific terroirs of individual single vineyards--
