Founded in 1966 by Domenico Poggiali in Castelnuovo Berardenga, in the southeastern part of the Chianti Classico zone. Giuseppe Mazzocolin joined the family business in the late 1970s for commercial development. Winemaker Franco Bernabei's collaboration began with the 1983 vintage—the first year of the acclaimed Fontalloro and Rancia wines. The estate spans approximately 72-95 hectares of vines at 320-420 meters elevation within a total property of 500-600 hectares. Annual production is approximately 565,000 bottles.

Professional Reviews

Antonio Galloni

AG 89
"The 2023 Chianti Colli Senesi is a very good wine from this appellation where the wines can be a bit rustic. Dried herbs, cedar, new leather, incense and dark red cherry fruit are nicely lifted. In 2023, the Colli Senesi is a bit lighter in body, but that is not a bad thing at all." -Antonio Galloni
