Pioneering Chianti Classico founded in 1971 by English visionary John Dunkley—one of the first foreigners to establish an estate in the region. Over 50 years later, Riecine remains fiercely independent: 100% organic and biodynamic, 100% Sangiovese, spontaneous fermentation in concrete vats, no fining or filtration. The wines define "authentic Chianti Classico" from Gaiole terroir. Alessandro Campatelli, long-time oenologist, became owner in 2024—ensuring continuity of this natural approach.

Professional Reviews

Antonio Galloni

"The 2023 Chianti Classico is terrific. Aromatic, light on its feet and super-expressive, the 2023 is a total delight. Sweet floral and spice notes meld into a core of vibrant red Sangiovese fruit in this midweight, gracious offering." -Antonio Galloni

Robert Parker

"Made with 100% Sangiovese, the Riecine 2023 Chianti Classico shows ripe cherry and a hint of strawberry that is in line with a challenging vintage that saw heat and lots of rain (with yields dropped by as much as 40% at this estate). There is some richness with added concentration in terms of mouthfeel. The 2023 is plumper overall and best enjoyed in the near term. This is a release of 45,000 bottles." -Monica Larner

"Precise aromas of berry fruits and a reactive palate with fine-meshed tannins, full of energy. Riecine is known for its cult of perfectionism, which has been passed down through a succession of owners. This characteristic comes to the fore in difficult vintages such as 2023, when continuous rain in May and June led to widespread problems and August brought days of sweltering heat. Riecine responded with an elegant wine. Impeccable."

"This 100% Sangiovese opens with aromas of lavender, ripe wild berry, baking spice and a balsamic whiff of camphor. Fermented in concrete vats and aged old tonneaux, it’s utterly delicious, with flavors of baked plum, fleshy Morello cherry, vanilla and nutmeg. Taut, well-integrated tannins provide effortless support." -Kerin O'Keefe
