This is a mature Napa Cabernet from a vineyard of less than three acres, with more than two decades in bottle, and it comes in an unusual 1-litre size. Grace Family's St. Helena estate is split into two tiny blocks just 300 feet apart. Both are planted to the family's own Grace clone of Cabernet Sauvignon, but the soils change a lot between the blocks and even within each one, so this is one clone grown on very varied ground. The 2001 is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon from that estate, with no blending grapes. The family found the property in 1976 and moved there to start the winery. Their first vintage, 1978, was made at Caymus Vineyards and bottled as a single-vineyard wine. A bottle like this is for a dinner where the wine is the point: aged, small-scale Napa from an estate of under three acres.
