Brooklyn's scrappy whiskey makers set out in 2010 to do something radical: make bourbon and rye in New York City again, as distillers did before Prohibition. Kings County bills itself as the city's oldest operating whiskey distillery and the first since Prohibition, working out of the historic Paymaster Building in the Brooklyn Navy Yard and using New York grain. No gimmicks, no bulk whiskey, just honest, hand-crafted New York whiskey that tastes like it grew up here.
