Vietti needs little introduction as one of the most highly esteemed estates of Langhe. They were among the first Barolo producers to plant vineyards on the Monleale next to Walter Massa, alongside a few other newly developed plots.

Their style straddles the old and new school—slightly richer and riper like the old guard, but with squeaky clean edges inline with the new. It needs some time to open up; a decant is not out of the question. It will improve over several days, growing more complex with increasingly mineral presence. Notes are slightly tropical, with guava, lemons, cantaloupe, and white flowers, but layered with waxy textures, hay, chamomile, acacia, hazelnut, and a long limestone finish.

Vietti is one of the few estates that chooses to employ some oak fermentation vessels (along with ceramic and stainless steel), which explains why some of the more developed notes come through at this young age.
