The Reid challenges what vodka can be. It's a single malt vodka from New Zealand's Cardrona Distillery, founded by Desiree Reid, made from malted barley and alpine water. The wash ferments for 70 hours before distillation in a pair of column stills, and the spirit is neither chill-filtered nor charcoal-filtered, so it keeps its texture. Expect pear drops, lemon, toffee and malt biscuits on a weighty, balanced palate. Now reaching the U.S. through Hotaling & Co.
