More about Michter's

Michter's is one of the great comeback stories in American whiskey: a name that traces its roots to a Pennsylvania farm distillery of 1753, went bankrupt in 1989, and was revived in Kentucky in the 1990s.

The modern company, led by Joseph Magliocco, first sold whiskey distilled to its own specs, then opened its own distillery in Shively, Kentucky, in the mid-2010s, plus a small one at Fort Nelson in downtown Louisville. Signatures include a low barrel-entry proof of 103 and barrels of air-dried wood toasted before charring. The US*1 line of bourbon, rye, sour mash and American whiskey is the core, with older and barrel-strength bottlings above.

Expect caramel and vanilla in the bourbon, pepper and citrus in the rye. Lovely neat, and a real upgrade in a Manhattan.
