Discover the world of Markus Molitor, one of the most iconic wineries of Germany’s Mosel Valley, through a tasting dedicated to its wines. Please join us on Wednesday, September 2 at 6pm on the mezzanine for a masterclass led by the Export Manager of Weingut Markus Molitor, Daniel Kiowski.

Representing the 8th generation, Markus Molitor started running the family winery in the mid-1980s. Known for his careful work in both the vineyard and the cellar, and for his deep respect for the grapes and the wine, Markus works to bring out the best of Riesling in every bottle. Each wine reflects the terroir of the Mosel, with great aging potential, authenticity, and a unique personality.

The vineyards are located along the Mosel River and across the steep slopes of the Saar Valley. With slate soils and microclimates, the estate produces wines with many different expressions, showing the typical terroirs of the Mosel.

Through spontaneous fermentation and traditional aging, mainly in wooden barrels and without the use of additives, the wines mature slowly in the cellar on their fine lees. This gives them more elegance, depth, and balance. This approach allows the estate to produce wines from dry and fresh styles to richer, more complex, and aromatic wines.

About Daniel Kiowski
Daniel Kiowski earned his sommelier certification in 2011 and has worked at some of Germany’s top restaurants. He held the position of Head Sommelier at Victor’s Fine Dining by Christian Bau for six years before assuming the role of Export Manager at Markus Molitor in 2016. Daniel has received several awards and was named as Gault & Millau’s 2015 Sommelier of the Year in Germany.
