Every grape here comes from forty-year-old vines inside the village of Puligny-Montrachet, which explains why this Bourgogne Blanc disappears as fast as it arrives. Marc and Alexandre Bachelet started their domaine in 2005 in Dezize-les-Maranges and have become one of the Cote de Beaune's reference points for precise, mineral Chardonnay. Farming is organic in practice if not on paper: no herbicides, no pesticides, no chemical fertilizer, ploughed soils, hand harvest. The wine is pressed slowly, fermented with native yeasts in 350-liter barrels (larger than the standard 228-liter piece, so the oak stays quiet), raised without batonnage and finished in tank. Sulfur is micro-dosed only where needed and never at bottling. The 2024 vintage was tiny and difficult but gave whites of classical cut, and this is remarkable quality for the price. Unusually for a Bourgogne Blanc, it will also reward a few years in the cellar.

"The 2024 Bourgogne Côte d'Or Blanc (two hectares in Puligny and one hectare in Chassagne) has a wonderful nose that is more Village or Premier Cru in complexity: mineral driven, beautifully defined and quite intense. The palate is very well balanced with green apple and freshly sliced pear, just a background note of praline then quite a spicy finish that lingers in the mouth. This punches well above its weight." —Neal Martin

Tasting Notes & Food Pairings

Perfect Pairings

An all-purpose white for the table: roast chicken, sole meuniere, a leek tart, fried smelts, goat cheese, or a plate of oysters and mignonette.

Tasting Profile

Aromas of white orchard fruit, lemon zest and crushed stone. Medium-bodied, dry and taut, with bright citrusy acidity and no oak flavor to speak of. Clean, dry, mineral finish that runs longer than the label suggests.
