Côte de Brouilly is one of Beaujolais' best-kept secrets, grown on the blue volcanic diorite slopes of Mont Brouilly that give the Gamay extra structure and minerality. This bottling comes from Domaine Baron de l'Ecluse, a family estate on those very slopes near Odenas. The Cuvee Ozzie is a serious cru Beaujolais built with a little age in mind. At a decade old, the 2014 has had time to round out and settle.

Antonio Galloni

91 points

"Vivid ruby-red. Fresh red berries and Asian spices on the highly perfumed nose. Lively and precise, offering graceful raspberry and violet pastille flavors that fan out slowly on the back half. In an elegant, seamless style, finishing quite long, with impressive energy and spicy lift." —Josh Raynolds

Roast chicken, charcuterie and pate, grilled sausages, or a plate of Comte and cured ham.

Tasting Profile

Medium-bodied red with red and dark berry fruit, gentle pepper and a stony edge; supple tannins softened by a decade in bottle.
