The one non-Chardonnay in Benoit Ente's cellar, and proof that Aligote in serious hands is anything but an afterthought. Ente is the younger brother of Arnaud Ente and a Puligny-Montrachet grower obsessed with precision, farming without chemical weedkillers or fertilizers and cropping his vines hard for concentration. Antichtone comes from three parcels of old Aligote, two of them planted by his grandfather in 1949 and 1953, the third by Benoit himself in 2002. Vinified in stainless steel to protect its freshness, it delivers the grape's cutting citrus and stony bite with a depth of fruit that only old vines and a white-Burgundy master's touch can give.
