The powerhouse of Ente's cellar: En la Richarde is a tiny near-monopole of barely a quarter-hectare on the upper crest of Les Folatieres, sitting on dense limestone bedrock just beneath the grand cru of Chevalier-Montrachet. That elevated, rocky position gives a wine of real breadth and grand-cru ambition, where the neighboring Clos de la Truffiere trades in tension and cut. Ente farms cleanly, crops low and ages the wine slowly with restrained oak, letting a rare site express its depth. This is the most ageworthy and profound bottle he makes.
