Chateau Florestan is an honest, everyday red from the Cotes de Bordeaux, a value bottling under the vast Bernard Magrez umbrella. It's a classic right-bank-style blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc, the kind of claret made for the dinner table rather than the auction room. What makes this one notable is the age: the 2010 vintage was one of Bordeaux's great years, structured and concentrated, and at fifteen-plus years old this wine has had time to soften and develop the leathery, savory secondary notes that make mature Bordeaux so satisfying.
