Pezerolles sits high on the Beaune-facing side of Pommard and tends to give a more elegant, perfumed style than the village's burlier crus. Domaine Billard-Gonnet, working here since 1766, farms it traditionally: open-vat fermentation, foot punch-downs, no fining or filtering. The 2010 was a small, tightly wound, classically structured vintage, and this bottle has the cut and freshness to keep developing while drinking well now.

Burghound

92 points

"This is also restrained, cool, pure and appealingly elegant with its pretty array of various red berry fruit aromas that are cut with floral, spice and earth nuances. Phenolically mature tannins underpin the mineral-inflected, equally pure and refreshing flavors that possess a silky mouth feel before terminating in a clean, focused, balanced, long and saline-infused finish. A Pézerolles of finesse that is more Beaune than Pommard and this is already inviting yet should reward at least a decade of cellar time." —Allen Meadows

Wine Spectator

94 points

"Packed with pure cherry, raspberry and violet aromas and flavors, this rich red is supported by mouthwatering acidity and tightly knit tannins. Harmonious and long."

Tasting Notes & Food Pairings

Perfect Pairings

Roast chicken, duck breast, mushroom risotto, braised pork, or soft washed-rind cheese.

Tasting Profile

A more refined, lifted red Burgundy than typical Pommard, with fine structure. Savory and earthy with a fresh edge, now beginning to show mature complexity.
