What is this wine?
Brulières de Beychevelle is the certified-organic second wine of Château Beychevelle, the famed Fourth Growth of Saint-Julien. The vineyards for Brulières lie just outside the appellation boundary in the Haut-Médoc, planted mainly to Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon on gravelly soils. The 2019 vintage is considered excellent in Bordeaux, yielding ripe yet balanced wines with great depth.

Why get this wine?
This bottle gives you the pedigree of a classified growth estate at a fraction of the price. With organic farming, careful winemaking, and the hallmark elegance of Beychevelle, Brulières offers both approachability and serious quality. It’s an ideal option for Bordeaux lovers looking for value and authenticity.

What does this wine taste like?
Medium to full-bodied, with blackcurrant, plum, and blackberry layered with notes of cedar, graphite, and spice. Polished tannins and fresh acidity bring balance to the ripe fruit.

When should you drink this wine?
Drinking beautifully now with a short decant, but will evolve gracefully through 2030. Pairs well with roast lamb, beef dishes, or hearty stews.

Professional Reviews

Antonio Galloni

"Beychevelle has been on a roll, especially these last few years. I expected quite a bit more from the 2019, but the two bottles I have tasted so far have been marked by an awkward combination of super-ripe fruit, vegetal notes and hard, aggressive contours." -Antonio Galloni

Robert Parker

RP 94
"Aromas of raspberries, currants, pencil shavings and sweet spices introduce the 2019 Beychevelle, a medium to full-bodied, supple and enveloping wine that's fleshy and seamless, with a generous core of fruit, ripe tannins and succulent acids, concluding with an expansive finish. This is an open-knit, demonstrative Saint-Julien that will offer a broad drinking window." -William Kelley

Decanter

"Dark nose, quite serious and seductive. This draws you in from the first smell with lovely florality and delicacy. On the palate it's deep and the power is on show no doubt, there's concentration but also such aromatics and purity of fruit with tannins that are gentle and svelte. Lifted the whole way through, good acidity and a subtle creaminess at the end. A well framed, pretty and powerful style. Great winemaking with precision." -Georgina Hindle
