With its iconic label and deep roots in Bordeaux history, Château Beychevelle remains one of Saint-Julien’s most beloved estates—and in the warm, concentrated 2022 vintage, it has produced a wine of poise and richness. The blend leans into Cabernet Sauvignon, supported by Merlot and small portions of Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc, creating a wine that speaks clearly of its Left Bank origin.

Blackcurrant, plum, graphite, and violet lead on the nose, with a refined backdrop of cedar and subtle spice from well-integrated oak. On the palate, it’s generous but controlled—silky in texture, with firm yet approachable tannins and a bright core of acidity that carries through to a long, balanced finish. There's an effortless sense of symmetry here—Saint-Julien polish with a touch of 2022's sun-warmed depth.

Enjoy from 2028 onward, or decant young to experience its layers in full bloom. Beychevelle 2022 is a wine of grace and gravity—built to impress now and reward for decades.

"The 2022 Beychevelle was picked between 12-29 September at 36hL/ha, matured in 70% new oak. It has an intense bouquet with black cherries, blueberry and touches of cassis and violet. Not as ostentatious as some other Saint-Julien wines at this early stage, but delineated, and it positively brims with energy. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy black fruit framed by beautifully-sculpted tannins. The 2022 is very harmonious, satin-like in texture, and gently fans out toward the finish. It ends up being one of the most seductive Beychevelles I have tasted from barrel, one not to be overlooked. Chapeau, Mr. White!" —Neal Martin

Robert Parker

"The 2022 Beychevelle has turned out nicely, offering up aromas of ripe berry compote mingled with notions of petals, espresso roast and rich, toasty oak. Medium to full-bodied, sweet and fleshy, it's velvety and layered, with plenty of powdery tannin lurking behind its ripe core of fruit. It's a blend of 64% Cabernet Sauvignon, 42% Merlot and 4% Petit Verdot. Fans of contemporary Beychevelle's rich, lusty style will love it." —William Kelley

"Supple, rich and velvety. Great delineation of tannins and fruit with creamy blueberries and cola touches alongside savoury elements of dark chocolate, liquorice and salt. Structured, fresh and well worked, this feels sophisticated, focussed and confident. It's missing a touch of acidity, but this has plenty of polish, seduction and potential to age. A yield of 36hl/ha."
