Château d’Aiguilhe is a historic Castillon estate with deep limestone and clay soils, owned by the von Neipperg family of Canon La Gaffelière. The 2010 vintage is Merlot-led with a touch of Cabernet Franc, from a structured, long-lived year.

Vinified in concrete and aged in French oak, this mid-tier Bordeaux shows ripe fruit, firm tannins, and regional depth. A classic Right Bank wine with real aging potential and balance.

Professional Reviews

Antonio Galloni

AG 90
"Fully saturated inky-ruby. Somewhat oak-dominated on the nose presently, with aromas of red cherry, rose petal, graphite and brown spices. Rich and lush but less obviously fruit-driven than usual in this vintage, combining sweeter mocha and earth tones with ripe delicate dark fruit flavors. The slightly granular, mounting tannins will need several years of bottle aging, but there's enough depth of fleshy fruit here to reassure me." -Vinous

Robert Parker

RP 91
"From the brilliant proprietor Stephan von Neipperg, the 2010, a blend of 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc that hit 15% natural alcohol, is ripe and intense but exhibits good minerality and freshness as well as lots of blueberry and blackberry fruit, with hints of charcoal, licorice and asphalt. Rich and full-bodied, with no hard edges, this wine should drink beautifully for 10 or more years." -Robert M. Parker, Jr.

Jancis Robinson

"80% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc. Dark glowing crimson. Quite full and rich and round. Thick and sweet. Much over delivery. Masses of fun. An early developer." -Jancis Robinson MW

Wine Spectator

WS 92
"Very lush and expressive, with caressing plum sauce, mulled blueberry and blackberry fruit and melted licorice and warm fruitcake flavors, all gliding together through the finish. Offers lovely range and a seductive mouthfeel."
