A white Jura that stares down Vin Jaune's oxidative intensity without ever going all the way there. Chateau d'Arlay co-ferments two-thirds Chardonnay with one-third Savagnin, then raises it three years in old foudres kept topped-up (ouille) rather than under a veil, so the wine holds a linear, savory tension while flirting with the nutty, dried-fruit character Jura is famous for. This is one of France's oldest wine estates, worked in the village of Arlay by the Laguiche family on soils just below the medieval castle ruins. It drinks beautifully now but is built to age fifteen years and gain complexity. Serve it cool, not cold, to let the texture open.
