Mourre du Tendre is a tiny, old-school Chateauneuf-du-Pape estate in Courthezon, farmed by the Paumel family, and its calling card is age: the Grenache here was planted in 1929 and the Mourvedre in 1967, with the prestige cuvee made from these very old vines. Vinified whole-cluster in stainless steel without destemming or crushing, then aged for up to three years in concrete and finished in old foudres, this is a traditional, low-intervention wine grown on sandy soils. The 2010 is from a superb, structured Southern Rhone vintage, so this old-vine Grenache (around 90%, with Mourvedre) is rich, concentrated and built to last. Decant it well.

Shows very good depth, with firm tannins gaining strength with air and adding strong finishing grip. This wine was showing its structure last year and it's even more pronounced now.
