This wine is a study in quiet beauty—light, pretty, and classically Médoc in its restraint. The palate opens with bright, primary red fruit—cherry, red currant, and a hint of raspberry—carried by fine, persistent tannins that frame the wine without a hint of harshness. At first pour, it feels almost delicate, even a touch lean, but with 30 minutes of air the fruit begins to broaden and knit seamlessly with the structure, gaining warmth and texture. After an hour, subtle tertiary notes of graphite, cedar, and tobacco emerge, adding dimension while staying gracefully in the background. This bottle perfectly proves the joy of drinking wine at home—giving it time to breathe and reveal its layers. Enjoy a few now for their brightness and charm, but tuck some away; the best is still to come over the next 2 to 10 years.

Pre-sale, wine should be in stock by November 10th.

Professional Reviews

Antonio Galloni

AG 89
"The 2014 Potensac has an attractive if straightforward bouquet with strawberry jam, raspberry and tobacco aromas, the latter becoming ever stronger with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with firm but fine tannin. The acidity here is well judged and lends this appreciable tension and energy, a spicy, black pepper vein towards the sustained finish. This improves in the glass and yet I still think it will show best in the short to medium- rather than long-term. Tasted blind at the annual Southwold tasting." -Neal Martin

"Tasted blind. Pale greyish crimson. Light and a bit simple. Tart and green though there is a little sign of ripe fruit too. This may develop into something more interesting." -Jancis Robinson MW

Wine Spectator

WS 89
"This has a core of lightly mulled plum, cherry and red currant fruit, all framed by a slightly taut singed cedar note. A bright streak of iron underscores the finish, leaving a mouthwatering feel. A minerally style that should age well in the short term." -James Molesworth

Wine Enthusiast

WE 90
"With low yields after a hail storm, the wine is concentrated and dense. It has a touch of wood aging as well as dark black fruits. The tannins are firm in a wine that will age well over the medium term. Drink from 2023." -Roger Voss
