A dry Georgian rosé from Rkatsiteli and Saperavi — and it tastes like nothing else in the rosé aisle. Nino Chitoshvili came to this by an unlikely route: a Tbilisi native and pianist by education, she fell for wine through philosophy and art, worked as a wine tour guide from 2010, and buried her first qvevri in the courtyard of her own house for the 2017 vintage. Everything here is grown on her own vines in the village of Vachnadziani, a micro-zone of Mukuzani in Kakheti, farmed with organic preparations only and with the natural flora of the site encouraged rather than sprayed away. In the cellar the approach is hands-off: wild yeast, no filtration, 7–9 months in qvevri. Total production across all her wines tops out around 10,000 bottles a year, so this is a small-scale thing that happens to reach a handful of countries — grab it when you see it.

Perfect Pairings

Khachapuri, grilled pork mtsvadi with tkemali plum sauce, badrijani (walnut-stuffed eggplant rolls), roast chicken with tarragon, chilled cucumber-and-herb salads, or grilled sardines.

Tasting Profile

Dry and pale-to-deep pink, with red cherry and pomegranate fruit, dried herbs and a faintly savory, earthy edge. Light-to-medium bodied with bright acidity and a little grip of skin texture — more structured than a Provençal rosé, less tannic than a red. Clean, mineral, mouthwatering finish.
