Cortes de Cima has been completely reinvented under Anna Jorgensen, who took over from her parents and pivoted the Alentejo estate toward low-intervention, terroir-driven winemaking with organic and regenerative farming. Chamine Branco is the fresh, aromatic everyday white from this new chapter, drawing on coastal Alentejo vineyards for a wine that's brighter and saltier than the region's reputation suggests. It's grapy and supple with good acidity, an easy crowd-pleaser with a real point of view. Portugal keeps getting more exciting, and this is a great way in.

"The 2023 Chaminé Branco is an aromatic white from grapes from the Alentejo coastal vineyards. It's a blend of 50% Sauvignon Blanc, 25% Alvarinho, 20% Moscatel and 5% Loureiro but keeping the freshness through contained ripeness, 11% alcohol and very good parameters of freshness and acidity, finishing dry. The full clusters were pressed, and the juice fermented with indigenous yeasts in stainless steel; but the Moscatel had skin contact. It went through full malolactic and matured in stainless steel with the fine lees for 14 months. It has a balsamic and medicinal nose with herbal notes, hints of mint and pine needles—fresh and different, with some pungency. The palate is light but seamless, solid, balanced and clean. 8,000 bottles produced. It was bottled in December 2024." —Luis Gutiérrez
