Dalmore built its reputation on sherry casks, and the 14 leans all the way in: matured in American white oak ex-bourbon barrels, then finished in hand-selected Pedro Ximenez casks from Gonzalez Byass in Jerez. PX is the sweetest and most raisiny of the sherries, and that finish pushes the whisky toward dates, figs and marmalade rather than the citrus or smoke you find elsewhere in the Highlands. It's bottled at 43.8% and is a US-market exclusive. Rich but not heavy, and an easy after-dinner pour neat or over a single large cube.

Established 1839 in Alness, Scotland, on the banks of the Cromarty Firth overlooking the Black Isle, Dalmore has been making bold Highland single malts for nearly two centuries. The cornerstone is maturation in two different cask types—American white oak bourbon casks and exclusive aged sherry casks from Gonzalez Byass. The range spans 12 to 25 years old, with specialty releases beyond. This is whisky that tastes like where it's made: coastal, complex, elegant.

Tasting Profile

Honeyed dates, orange zest, raisin and allspice on the nose. Figs, toasted hazelnut, roasted coffee and maple on the palate. Rich and rounded, finishing on dark fruit, licorice and cocoa.
