A genuine library rarity. Griotte-Chambertin is one of the smallest grand crus in all of Burgundy, and this bottling carries the famous Chezeaux/Ponsot story: Chezeaux owned the tiny Griotte parcel and leased it en metayage to Domaine Ponsot, who farmed and made the wine, a share bottled as Chezeaux that was essentially Ponsot at a different label. From the cool, classically structured 2001 vintage, this is now a fully mature grand cru at over two decades old. With age this fragile, treat it gently, stand it upright, decant carefully, and expect a delicate, secondary, mature expression rather than youthful fruit. A collector's bottle.
