One of Burgundy's rarest Grand Crus from a tiny family domaine. Domaine Poisot's Romanee-Saint-Vivant plot sits in the southwest of the climat, famously a few feet from Romanee-Conti; it descends from the 1902 division of Louis Latour's estate, and Remi Poisot has made the wine himself since 2010 after a naval career. Romanee-Saint-Vivant is the most delicate and perfumed of the great Vosne-Romanee Grand Crus. The bright, energetic 2014 vintage emphasizes finesse and freshness, and this is maturing toward its prime.

"This too displays a markedly cool nose featuring notes of red pinot, dark currant, floral and an exuberant spiciness that are trimmed in a discreet application of wood. There is good vibrancy and excellent delineation to the highly seductive flavors that deliver very fine length on the silky and velvet-textured finale. Like its 2015 counterpart this is a bold, serious and robust RSV that is clearly built-to-age and is going to need plenty of it. To be sure, this is excellent but it is not cut from the same "grace and lace" cloth as most examples of the appellation." —Allen Meadows
