Enric Soler’s 2023 Espenyalluchs is a laser-focused, deeply mineral expression of Xarel·lo, grown in a single old-vine vineyard at altitude in Penedès. This is not your sparkling base grape—it’s a white wine with tension, quiet power, and remarkable finesse.

The nose is citrus and crushed herbs, with hints of white flowers and chalk. On the palate, it’s structured and saline, with bright acidity, fine texture, and a long, almost smoky mineral finish. Fermented and aged in neutral oak and amphora, the wine has shape and energy without a trace of heaviness.

If you love wines like Chablis, Etna Bianco, or Jura Chardonnay, this is a must. It’s cerebral and soulful all at once—one of Spain’s great white wines, quietly redefining what Xarel·lo can be.

Perfect for: seafood paella, grilled vegetables, fine cheeses, or any occasion where freshness meets complexity on the table.

It’s rare that we find a winemaker who focuses all of his attention, all of his energy, on one grape variety—but that’s exactly what Enric Soler does, in the Penedès, with that region’s most noble grape, Xarel-lo.

Enric was working as a sommelier in Barcelona until the death of his grandfather inspired him to pack up and move back to his ancestral homeland, where his grandfather had planted vines in the 1940s. He embarked on a deeply personal project to create three different wines from three different plots of Xarel-lo, planted at different times and on different soil types.

Predominantly known as one of the three main grapes blended into Cava, Xarel-lo (cha-rel-lo) produces incredibly aromatic and complex still wines. Enric’s are unlike any other Spanish white wine we know—bright and herbal, with notes of citrus and fennel, but deeply concentrated. In each of his cuvées runs a minerality that belies the inherent richness of the grape. We can’t get enough!

Each plot is farmed biodynamically, and minimalism is the name of the game both in the vineyards and in the cellar. A keen sense of balance, honed by Enric’s somm years, is the defining feature of his wines.

"The 2023 Espenyalluchs comes from a one-hectare plot planted with a massal selection from Vinya dels Taus, an alluvial stony place with clay at 400 meters above sea level, a place where, in the past, they only planted Parellada because there was no experience with Xarel.lo at that altitude. The wine ferments and matures for nine months in the oldest 300-liter barrels they have. It's elegant and nuanced, quite Burgundian and with a cool-climate feeling to it, remarkable in a year like 2023. It's clean and precise, with contained ripeness, 12.5% alcohol, a pH of 3.05 and 6.9 grams of acidity, denoting superb freshness. It's a triumph over the adverse conditions of the year. Bravo! 3,105 bottles produced. It was bottled in May 2024." -Luis Gutiérrez
