The village-level entry into one of Spain's most thrilling project lineups. Envínate ('Wine yourself') is a four-winemaker collective — Roberto Santana, Alfonso Torrente, Laura Ramos, and José Ángel Martínez — who met at university and now make some of the country's most exciting wines across Ribeira Sacra, the Canary Islands, and Almansa. The Lousas series comes from the terraced slate slopes above the Sil river. This village cuvée draws from minimum 60-year-old plots, planted at 400-600 meters on the pure slate ('lousa') soils that give the line its name. Mencía-dominant with old-vine field-blend varieties mixed in, fermented partly whole-cluster in open-top tanks, then aged in neutral oak and concrete. The result captures everything that makes Ribeira Sacra exciting: floral lift, slate minerality, and weightless intensity.

More about Envinate

Just a couple of years ago the wines of Envinate were very, very off the radar. Like everything in the world of delicious, naturally made wines, that has changed! Now we eagerly anticipate the next release, get just a case or less of each cuvée, and then watch them disappear in the blink of an eye.

For those unfamiliar, the group of four friends behind the project have nailed a locals' perspective on growing areas that the world is just coming to appreciate. Between Ribeira Sacra and the Canary Islands, they bottle clear expressions of the vineyards with which they work. Having started Envinate as a consultancy while in enology school, the friends set out to enrich the communities within these historically neglected areas. By splitting up and living in each of these regions, they have been able to foster relationships with older generations of growers and farmers allowing them to identify the best vineyard sites with a collective understanding beyond their experience.

With a strong technical education, The Four craft wines of precision and clarity. Never manipulated, never doctored, and a lack of chemicals in the vineyard, these wines are liquid art, a purists expression of terrior. They honor not only the region from which they come, but also the local stewards who have cared for these vineyards, often for generations.

Tasting Notes & Food Pairings

Perfect Pairings

Slot into the Iberian playbook — Galician pulpo a la gallega, grilled chorizo, lamb shoulder with pimentón. Also delicious with roast duck breast, mushroom risotto, or a charcuterie board with aged manchego.

Tasting Profile

Medium-bodied. Red cherry, raspberry, and pomegranate over a savory base of crushed slate, violets, and dried herbs. Bright acidity, fine-grained tannins, and that signature Ribeira Sacra lift — light on its feet, long on the finish.
