Flatiron Wine Educator Annie Edgerton, DWSET, will take you on a home-state journey through New York’s most exciting (and surprisingly diverse!) regions. From Long Island’s coastal elegance to the Niagara Escarpment’s cool-climate character and the Finger Lakes’ world-class precision, you’ll explore a state that’s no longer an up-and-comer, but a leader. With a history stretching from pre-Prohibition distilling and early hybrid plantings to today’s thriving production, New York’s drinks culture reflects centuries of innovation shaped by both land and legacy. We’ll taste through dynamic wines, ciders, vermouths, and more—a delicious snapshot of New York’s diverse bounty—without leaving Manhattan.

We hope you can join us on Tuesday, February 10 at 6pm on the mezzanine for this special event!

Gorgeous Pinot from an Unexpected Locale: Crochet's Sancerre Rouge

You have probably heard the name Lucien Crochet. You may even have a bottle or two of their crisp, limestone-driven Sauvignon Blanc in your fridge. It is one of Sancerre's benchmark estates, synonymous with purity and precision. But if you visit the winery in the village of Bué, you will notice that many of the locals aren't drinking white wine. They are drinking the red.

Cathy Corison wines on the DL (and at a great price!)

Cathy Corison wines on the DL (and at a great price!)

Three of us visited Cathy Corison in Napa Valley this fall and had a spectacular tasting at a table set out among the vines. The back-vintage Napa Cabs (including mature Kronos!) were almost to good to believe and tasted like the sunshine and the land around us. Cab has never seemed so delicious and also of its place.

But when it came time to head to lunch, the wine we needed to go with the spread we built ourselves at the Oakville Grocer (iykyk) wasn’t one of her famous reds, but an almost unknown white, the bone dry “Corazon” Gewurztraminer.
