The 2022 Forey Père et Fils Vosne-Romanée is a captivating Pinot Noir that beautifully reflects the elegance and complexity of this esteemed Côte de Nuits appellation. Domaine Forey Père et Fils, under the careful stewardship of Régis Forey, is celebrated for crafting wines that emphasize purity and terroir. This village-level Vosne-Romanée benefits from the domaine’s thoughtful vineyard management and traditional winemaking, delivering a wine that is both approachable and sophisticated.

In the glass, the wine exhibits a luminous ruby hue. The nose is fragrant and layered, offering aromas of ripe red cherries, raspberries, and wild strawberries, accented by floral notes of violets and hints of exotic spices, such as clove and anise. Subtle undertones of earth and a touch of fine oak contribute depth and intrigue. On the palate, it is medium-bodied with a velvety texture, supported by refined tannins and lively acidity. The vibrant red fruit flavors are balanced by savory nuances and a delicate minerality, leading to a long, elegant finish.

The 2022 vintage, characterized by warm growing conditions, imparts ripe and generous fruit while preserving the freshness and balance that are hallmarks of Vosne-Romanée. This wine pairs wonderfully with dishes such as roasted duck, herb-crusted lamb, or mushroom-based pastas, and it complements aged cheeses beautifully. While enjoyable now for its vibrant fruit and polished texture, it has the potential to age gracefully over the next 8–12 years, developing additional complexity and nuance.

Forey Père et Fils’ Vosne-Romanée is an excellent example of the finesse and charm that this village is known for, making it a must-try for Burgundy enthusiasts seeking a wine that balances elegance with depth.

Regis Forey makes a range of traditional, old school Pinot Noir in the heart of Vosne-Romanée. His domaine is a total of 10 hectares and includes holdings from Nuits-St-Georges to Morey-St-Denis, and include some top 1er crus in Vosne. But the wines (and Regis himself) are not flashy, and indeed they can take careful cellaring to unlock their full potential.

These are the very qualities that first drew famed importer Neal Rosenthal to the estate back in 1982. Indeed this was one of the first Burgundy producers in a portfolio that is now famous for a slew of top-notch domaines and classic wines. What drew Neal to this domaine are the same qualities that his entire portfolio exemplifies: pure, unadulterated expressions of terroir.

What importer Rosenthal Wine Merchant has to say about this wine...

Forey farms 14 separate parcels that cover together a bit more than one hectare to create the village Vosne-Romanée. Most of the vineyards are on the northern side of Vosne bordering Vougeot. The oldest parcel was planted in 1942 and the major portion of this wine is from vines in excess of 40 years of age. Forey ages this wine in a mix of small barrel and demi-muid.
