Forthave Spirits is a Brooklyn-based distillery crafting handcrafted botanical spirits in the Pfizer building in Bed-Stuy—a former pharmaceutical facility now housing this creative spirits producer. The Blue Gin is distilled from a sugarcane base spirit and infused with eighteen botanicals, including grapefruit, mint, lavender, rose, and juniper. The distinctive pearlescent effect that appears when the unfiltered gin is poured over ice or mixed with tonic creates a visual signature reflecting the spirit's untamed character. At 43% ABV (86 proof), Forthave Blue presents fresh citrus peels, watermelon rind, chamomile, and cucumber notes—a botanical profile that suggests refreshment and brightness. The round, voluptuous texture helps the bold flavors make an impact on the palate while holding up exceptionally well in cocktails. Forthave Spirits, named for a fifteenth-century botanist and his plague-combating elixir, started in Brooklyn in 2016 when painter Aaron Fox and writer Daniel de la Nuez decided to explore how their favorite botanical liqueurs were made.
