Petite Arvine is the great white grape of the Alps, and Grosjean grows it on terraced slopes high in Italy's Valle d'Aosta, where the family has farmed with integrity since the 1960s. This tiny region tucked against the French and Swiss borders speaks a patois closer to old Provencal than to Italian, and its wines carry that same border-blurring character. From the Rovettaz vineyard, this is a white of real cut and energy: citrusy, saline, and bracingly fresh thanks to the cool mountain air. It's the kind of bottle that makes you want to book a hike. Pour it cold and let the Alps come to you.

More about Grosjean

Four hundred years of mountain winemaking in Valle d'Aosta—on terrain so steep it requires hiking to tend. In 2011, Grosjean became the first in the region to earn organic certification, and their seven hectares now dance with 11 indigenous grape varieties and select internationals. Made with integrity from high-altitude sites, these are gorgeous wines built for places where the air is thin and pure.
