In 2022, wildfires swept through Crete and devastated many of the old-vine vineyards around Iliana Malihin's community. She is still rebuilding, and this Vidiano comes from younger vines on the mountain slopes of Crete, where the island's rare native whites have always thrived. Vidiano is a grape with extraordinary natural acidity and texture, often compared to Viognier in aromatic generosity but with far more freshness. Malihin farms with an organic philosophy, seeking purity over intervention, and the result is a wine that carries a real story in every glass.

At just under 30, Iliana Malihin is making some of Crete's finest Vidiano, Liatiko, and Thrapsathiri from nearly half of Rethymno's remaining vineyard parcels. Biodynamic, minimum-intervention, organically farmed—her story of resilience matters too: in 2022, a devastating wildfire swept through 300 acres of old pre-phylloxera vines. Yet her wines emerge with wild terroir-driven purity and authentic Cretan soul.
