Jean Foillard is a Beaujolais icon, one of Kermit Lynch's "Gang of Four" and a father of the natural-wine movement whose Morgon introduced a generation to living, no-makeup Beaujolais. His wines balance serious depth with easy deliciousness, lush fruit and refreshing minerality, made from old Gamay vines via patient semi-carbonic fermentation. Corcelette is his sandier, more perfumed cru, more delicate than Cote du Py. The 2016 was an excellent, balanced vintage; this bottle is drinking beautifully now with a few years of upside left.

Antonio Galloni

94 points

"Vivid ruby. Powerful, mineral-accented red fruit liqueur aromas are complemented by hints of candied lavender, five-spice powder and incense. Silky, pliant and appealingly sweet, offering palate-caressing raspberry and cherry compote flavors given lift and focus by a core of smoky minerality. In a pure, energetic style, showing excellent finishing thrust, harmonious tannins and lingering stoniness." —Josh Raynolds

Robert Parker

"The 2016 Morgon Corcelette was hit by April hail, but the wine has turned out very well indeed, offering up aromas of plums, cassis, cherries and subtle grilled meat. On the palate, it’s medium to full-bodied, layered and elegant, with velvety tannins, good acids and a supple profile, with just a touch of chewy tannin to resolve on the back end." —William Kelley

More about Jean Foillard

Jean Foillard is a natural-wine icon and charter member of Beaujolais' legendary 'gang of four'—those who answered Jules Chauvet's call to refuse pesticides, chaptalisation, and filtration. For half a century, his 14 organically farmed hectares have produced Morgon from the famed Côte du Py, with its roches pourries (rotten rock) of decomposed granite and schist. His wines are serious, lush, and utterly unforgettable.
